A Prayer

Praying HandsFather in heaven, may Your name be exalted and Glorified in all the earth, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth, in our lives, as it is in the heavenly realms. You also are the good shepherd who’s loving eyes watch over us all with loving care and grace, leading, guiding and protecting in all things. Seeking out even the farthest straying one. Providing for our every need spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, romantically, materially and financially.

Father I Pray for myself and all my family, love ones, friends, and all; especially those with power or authority over us. From the bosses on our jobs, through all the state and local authorities, Police & Military, through all the federal government, to the President and ruling authorities all over the world. I lift up the doctors & Nurses, Staff; also lawyers, Judges & juries, for the Teachers and all the Ministers that minister to us in every way. May they all do Your will in their places and positions, in bringing about peace on earth and good will toward all humanity. May we have grace and favor in each other’s sight. I pray that you would lead, guide, and direct us all in all we do, say and think. I pray that your will, plan, and purpose will be worked out in all our life and circumstances. I pray that we would be, do, and become all that you have planned and purposed for us in your infinite wisdom and love.I pray that through these we would build strong loving, caring families as good godly examples to our communities and the world.

Please protect us from all harm, sickness, accidents, death, disease. I pray that your Holy Spirit would fill us; also the Spirit of Christ and all the fruit of the Spirit being produced in us and flowing out from us; with the mind of Christ directing us. I pray that as You help us walk in the Spirit of Christ we would overcome the sin that is still working in our mind and flesh. God of all comfort, mercy and Grace, forgive us where we fail. I pray that the love of God would flow into us and then flow out from us to all those around us that we might see you in us and be drawn closer to you. I pray that you would help us grow in our gifts, talents and abilities; setting and achieving good goals for our life, work ministry according to how you have created us. Please give us right desires in our hearts and dreams according to the promises in your word. Help us read and understand your word in the Holy Bible and know the truth; not being led astray or deceived. Also help us recognize and understand your present word that is being spoken, and in our heart’s thoughts & through others, also in our surroundings and circumstances. Help us make Your Word applicable in the now, today, not just the past or future.

In addition, especially help us to grow in a living, loving relationship with you in the Lord Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. I pray for Your will, that all mankind will come to a knowledge of the truth and be saved; when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess and give praise to God that Jesus The Christ is LORD In the name of Yeshua Messiah our Savior, It is so, Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God

Many times I write out my prayers. This is one example of one I wrote many years ago and have edited over the years. I felt I should share it.

More Morality

Very wise words for a not-so-wise society. Many would say we are always pulling the religious card when these topics come up. Although, insanitybytes makes a clear case here that religion really doesn’t have to have anything to do with it.

See, there's this thing called biology...

A statement I have bumped into a few times this week, three hot button issues that I allegedly oppose for religious reasons, abortion, homosexuality, and birth control. I say “allegedly oppose” because as far as I know I’ve never really made a religious argument against any of these things. I have written a rather secular argument against abortion here.

I wish to address these issues from the perspective of an alien lizard overlord…..or Batman. Batman is cool. Anyway, from a rather detached, non emotional perspective, simply as an observer of how civilization creates itself, there are some potentially negative consequences from embracing all three of these things.

Birth control, the invention of the pill for example, forever changed relationships between men and women and altered the course of civilization. Women gained some illusion of control over our biology. Suddenly we were able to plan and organize our lives without being left in a biologically vulnerable…

Walking in Darkness

Walking in Darkness

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:5–10, NIV)

Verses 6-10. What these verses are saying; contrary to the traditional view; is “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet are hiding some things in our lives (darkness) we don’t want people know rather than being completely honest and open about ourselves (light) as he has revealed all about himself for all to see; we are only faking it. These verses cannot be referring to a sinless life (vss. 8-10) or else “purifies us from all sin” would be pointless as there would be no sin to purify. See also John 3:19-21; Eph 5:8, 1Jhn 1:8 Jhn 8:12 Col 1:15

Verse 7. Read that carefully, it is saying that people “Sin while walking in the light” Shocking isn’t it! Nevertheless, it says that if we are walking in the light and having fellowship with one another… – it is THEN that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin – which, in this context would have to have been committed while walking in the light and in fellowship with one another; staying in context that is….

Something to think about…
